Japanese fashion has always been a muse for many around the world. Boasting labels like fragment design, MASTERMIND and sacai, it is easy to understand why. However, when it comes to household names, few are more renowned than BAPE and COMME des GARÇONS. Two polarising brands, BAPE and CDG is not the most likely of collaborations. However, it looks like we will be seeing the two team up very soon.
Revealed by both brands yesterday, BAPE and COMME des GARÇONS PLAY will be teaming up for a limited-edition capsule collection. Made up of three staples, the upcoming BAPE x CDG PLAY collab is a perfect combination of the two powerhouse labels. Co-branding features on both, with the APE head replacing the traditional CDG heart. “COMME des GARÇONS PLAY” looks as though it is being shouted, a nice touch from the two.
A selection of hoodies, stripe long-sleeve T-shirts and T-shirts are on offer. As previously mentioned, these staple items are synonymous with both brands. Details such as the full zip-up hood are a nod to BAPE’s Shark Hoodies, whilst the striped tees are one of CDGs most coveted. If you are looking to get your hands on this BAPE x CDG collab, there is a slight issue. The collection will launch exclusively in Osaka, meaning you’ll need a Japanese connect to get these.
