Paris Fashion Week 2020 has had some memorable shows, to say the least. Off-White™, Balenciaga and Christian Dior have unveiled some key pieces for the upcoming season, taking the French capital by storm. Of course, PFW attracts visitors and celebrities from all over the world, with Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian also in attendance. Having hosted an impromptu Sunday Service this weekend, Kanye unveiled his Yeezy Season 8 presentation late last night.
Whilst many may have expected a show as loud as the rapper’s personality, it was fairly tame. Most notably, the show had no sneakers on the runway, the first time this has happened. Instead, looks focused on creating layers and accented through statement piece jewellery. This minimalistic approach took “less is more” to a new level, with models wearing woven crop tops, puffy outerwear and flare like trousers.
Kanye’s deconstructed aesthetic could be seen throughout, with raw hems and distressed features across all the looks. Whilst the lack of sneakers was a talking point, the show was not completely absent of footwear. Puffy boots, complete with a chunky sneaker sole, as well as Yeezy Slides were on display. Although it may not have been what fans expected from Yeezy Season 8, this show is already the talk of the town.
