Since 2017, Travis Scott has been a consistent hitmaker for Nike and Jordan Brand. His collabs on models like the Air Jordan 1s have become staples of the streetwear scene. Now, Scott’s partnership with Jordan taking on a new level with his first signature shoe, the Jumpman Jack, which is finally set to launch this March.
The Jumpman Jack has drawn some comparisons to the Air Yeezy, and not just because of the celebrity names attached. Both shoes borrow design language from classic Nike cross-training sneakers, mainly the velcro straps seen on the midfoot. Travis has also collaborated on the Air Trainer 1 in the past, so this seems right in his wheelhouse. The thick canvas and leather build and chunky sole also borrow from 90s skate aesthetics, fitting in with today’s nostalgic trends.
While the Air Yeezy 1 borrowed its sole from the Air Jordan 3, the Jumpman Jack’s sole is all its own, and might be the most eye-catching part of its design. The sole is particularly thick, reaching up the sides of the upper. The outsole provides plenty of grip, coming in a unique, almost cracked finish. The name ‘Jack’ is also painted on the outsole, designed to wear away with time.
Like we said the Jumpman Jack is set to be a whole event, and that means multiple colourways. A tonne of colourways have been leaked or teased, coming in shades of black, white, red, blue etc. But, to kick things off, the first colourway for this new model takes a familiar earthy look. The ‘Sail’ pair comes in white leather on a brown canvas base, similar to Travis’ smash-hit Reverse Mocha 1s.
The ‘Sail’ colourway was actually shock-dropped in February during the Grammys. For the wide release, this pair is set to drop on the 5th of March. While the Jumpman Jack has set itself apart from Travis’ usual collabs, it’s more than likely gonna reach a similar must-cop status.
