Hiroshi Fujiwara rarely needs a big campaign. A few phone photos on his own social media are usually enough, and that is exactly how the fragment design x Converse Chuck Taylor Low for V.A. Tokyo appeared. Three pairs, shot on a wooden floor with the hang tags still on: pink, baby blue and white.
It is a quiet project even by fragment standards. There is no wild material or new shape here, just a classic Chuck Taylor low in soft colours, made for V.A., the Harajuku concept store Fujiwara directs.
The fragment design x Converse Chuck Taylor Design
The base is heavy cotton canvas with a cream midsole, a black foxing line and cream laces on the pink pair. The baby blue pair comes with matching blue laces, while the white pair adds black inside. A stitched rectangle on the side panel is one of the few changes to the classic shape.
The details sit at the back. Each pair carries fragment's lightning bolt logo on the heel, white on the coloured pairs and black on the white one. The black heel label reads 'Converse All Star' with a star in the middle, flanked by 'FRGMT' and 'V.A.' in handwriting.
Along the midsole, a line of small print runs towards the heel: a product code, 'V.A.TOKYO CODE' and finally 'FRAGMENT EDITION'. It is the kind of detail that only shows up when you look closely, which is very much the fragment way of doing things.
fragment design and Converse
fragment and Converse have worked together for years, but never in a rush. The best known pairs came with Moncler in the 7 Moncler FRGMT Hiroshi Fujiwara series, which put the lightning bolt on the Chuck 70 in black, white and navy. In 2023, the duo brought back the Converse Weapon in a white, black and royal blue colourway, and a Chuck 70 By You project let fans design their own fragment pair.

fragment design x Converse Chuck Taylor Low for V.A. Tokyo Release
The fragment design x Converse Chuck Taylor Low for V.A. Tokyo has only been shown in teaser photos so far. Release date, pricing and style codes have not been confirmed, and it is likely that V.A. in Tokyo will be the main stockist.
