Every new 990 starts in grey. New Balance has now shown the first official images of the New Balance 990v7 Made in USA in 'Kool Grey', the inline colourway that opens the next chapter of its most famous running line. After teasers, posters and early previews, this is the pair most fans have been waiting for.
The 990v7 follows the 990v6, which ran for four years with mainline releases and collaborations. We already had a first look through Joe Freshgoods in our post New Balance 990v7: Joe Freshgoods Gives Us a First Look. Now the classic version is here, and it releases on 6 November 2026.
The New Balance 990v7 'Kool Grey' Design
The upper mixes suede and mesh in three shades of grey. Light grey suede wraps the toe cap, heel counter, eyestays and lower side panels, while darker grey suede overlays frame the midfoot. Tonal grey mesh covers the toe box and the sides, keeping the look close to the 990s that came before.
The 'N' logo is where the 990v7 shows its new face. It gets a lined texture with a light blue fill and a pale yellow border, and those same two tones run through the midsole. Cream laces, a leather 990 tongue label with a red 'v7' tab and a 'made in U.S.A.' badge on the heel finish the build.
Inside, the insoles carry the 990v7 logo and 'Established in 1982', a nod to the year the first 990 arrived. The midsole combines grey, light blue and a soft yellow, with ENCAP technology on the heel, the cushioning New Balance has used across the 990 line.
From 990v6 to 990v7

New Balance 990v7 'Kool Grey' Release
The New Balance 990v7 Made in USA 'Kool Grey' releases on 6 November 2026 in unisex sizing via New Balance and selected retailers. The style code is U990GR7 and the official colourway is Kool Grey/Calcium-Light Arctic Grey. Euro pricing has not been confirmed yet. The 990v7 will be available on KLEKT soon.
