Marcus Jordan’s Trophy Room store has put out some of the biggest Air Jordan collabs of the past few years. Now, Trophy Room is set to make waves again with a new AJ1 Low OG collab dropping this March.
The Trophy Room Lows come in a stylish reversal of the classic ‘Black Toe’ colourway. The base of the shoe comes in white leather, with red satin overlays on the front and black fabric on the heel. Inspired by the Chicago Bulls jersey, this colourway also comes in two variations, ‘Home’ and ‘Away’.
The ‘Home’ version features white embroidered Swooshes and is exclusively available at Trophy Room’s store in Orlando, Florida. The red overlays on the ‘Home’ version are done in leather leather, with a synthetic toe box mimicking the feel of a basketball jersey. Meanwhile, the ‘Away’ version features black Swooshes and is set for a wider, but still limited release.
Aside from the obvious Bulls colours, these pairs are also influenced by Michael Jordan’s 1986 Fleer Basketball rookie card. This concept can clearly be seen on the shoe’s packaging. The card’s blue and yellow lining even appears on the insoles and laces. The red leather panels on the ‘Home’ colourway are even lined in blue and yellow.
Many sneakerheads will be cautiously optimistic about this release due to past Trophy Room drops. Their Air Jordan 1 Highs from 2021 were originally limited to 12,000 pairs. However, a good chunk of those pairs flooded the resale market before the official release. Depending on who you ask this was either the result of thieves stealing them from a Nike distribution centre, or Trophy Room employees backdooring pairs to resellers.
Marcus Jordan himself appeared as a guest on the finale of Complex’s Full Size Run show. This followed a 2021 Complex article written by Brendan Dunne regarding the backdooring allegations against Trophy Room. When Dunne raised the issue again on FSR, Marcus Jordan refused to name names, but did say that the people involved are “no longer with [Trophy Room or Nike]”. He also said that while pairs “got away” from Trophy Room and Nike, a lot of early pairs were fakes.
In any case, the Trophy Room x Air Jordan 1 Low OGs are set to release on the 21st of March. If, for any reason, you miss out on the retail release, be sure to check for listings on KLEKT.
