Let’s face it, the Air Dior collaboration has arguably already one sneaker of the year. Since being debuted during the Dior Miami Presentation, the fashion world has been eagerly awaiting the release. Delays due to COVID-19 have only made the wait that little bit more agonising. Of course, those close to the House of Dior have already been receiving their pairs. Close friend of Kim Jones, Daniel Arsham, just gave us the best look yet at the Air Dior Jordan 1 Low.
The intricacy of the Air Dior Low starts with the packaging. A flip box, with a large silver “AIR DIOR” Wing logo motif is the first thing to be seen, adding a premium element to the collaboration. This premium feel can also be seen in the matching dust bag that lies underneath the tissue.
With this being an Italian made sneaker, the materials used are as luxurious as can be. The crisp white leather features the iconic “Dior Grey”; a homage to the sky above Christian Dior’s home which emerged in 1947. The most noticeable detail, however, is the Dior Oblique Swoosh, the centrepiece of this collaboration. Dior’s version of the Wings logo can be seen on the heel, complete with “Dior Air” on the tongue tag and the subtle Dior Oblique on the tongue itself.
Of course, it doesn’t stop there. On the inside, the shoe features an individual number, in Arsham’s case #047 out of 4,700. The clean white midsole and icy outsole, which bare the “DIOR” and “AIR DIOR” logos underneath, complete this beautiful sneaker. Other additions include metal hangtags and extra laces, both of which come in dustbags.
