Few people in the 90s were as influential to sneaker culture as Will Smith. As the star of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Smith was often spotted wearing a number of Air Jordans. However, it was his love of the Air Jordan 5, worn without laces, that really caught the attention of sneakerheads. Though the show may now have aired for 24 years, the legacy of Will’s sneakers has lived on. After months of teasing, official images of the “Alternate Bel-Air” Air Jordan 5 have finally surfaced online.
Following on from the 2013 Air Jordan 5 “Bel-Air,” this alternate version is a subtle update. Soft white leather has been used throughout, making way for the vibrant accents to shine throughout. Much like Will’s personality in the show, these sneakers are just as colourful as his persona. A purple midsole is contrasted with pink and lime, details that are reflected in the multicoloured tongue. The black tongue, lace eyelets and laces help to create a divide, bringing this well-balanced Jordan 5 to a close.
