Any serious sneakerhead will be able to tell you the connection between Nike and the University of Oregon. As the former school of Nike founder Phil Knight, Oregon holds a special place in the history of the Swoosh. The Oregon sports teams have always been granted exclusive Nike and Jordan sneakers, something regular sneakerheads know all too well. Thankfully, Jordan Brand is giving us a chance to cop a pair of Oregon Jordans later this year.
Previously released in 2014, the “Oregon Duck” 5s is a grail for many. For 2020, Jordan Brand is releasing the Oregon 5s in almost identical fashion to the OG. A rich green suede covers the shoes upper, contrasted by a black midsole unit with a yellow shark tooth. The all-black tongue features a Jumpman instead of the iconic “O.” and is paired with black laces. Finishing the sneaker off is a translucent sole with a white Air Unit.
The biggest noticeable difference on the upcoming Oregon Air Jordan 5, however, is the lack of the Duck emblem on the back. Created for the Oregon Ducks, the Oregon University Football Team, the Duck is one of the standout pieces. Replacing this iconic emblem is a Jordan Team patch on the heel, something that could be divisive on this sneakers release.
Set to drop on September 12th for €225 the “Oregon” Air Jordan 5 will likely be one of this year’s biggest releases. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop these Jordans.
