In recent years, Jordan Brand has thoroughly enjoyed mashing classic sneaker colourways together. The introduction of the “Top 3” Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 1 gave many sneakerheads the chance to wear all their favourite sneakers at once. By combining classic colourways together, Jordan Brand has shown homage not only to Michael Jordan but also its army of fans. With the Air Jordan 5 turning 30 this year, Jordan Brand is launching a “Top 3” version.
Combining elements of three iconic Air Jordan 5 colourways, the “Top 3” is a well-worked sneaker. Featuring a black nubuck upper, the shoe base references the OG “Black Metallic” Air Jordan 5. A “Grape” tongue works well against the noir base, with “Fire Red” accents on the midsole bringing the shoe together. The classic “Nike Air” on the back is paired with a red “23” on the ankle, a knowing nod to MJs jersey number.
Whilst they may not be for everyone, these Air Jordan 5s are certainly a collector’s piece. It’s also great to see Jordan Brand pay homage to the GOAT with playful shoes like this. Rumoured to drop on June 13th for €200, these will be one of this year’s best AJ5s. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop.
