Music and sneakers go hand in hand. Over the past 50 years, Nike has made exclusives for the likes of Elton John and Iron Maiden, as well as Kanye West and Drake. Whenever rumours surrounding a band and Nike began to start, sneakerheads tend to get excited. Now, it looks as though we could be seeing an exclusive collaboration honouring the 1960s rock band The Grateful Dead.
As one of the most important bands in rock, The Grateful Dead is one of the most celebrated sets of musicians in history. Having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, there is no denying how important the band truly is. Now, Nike is honouring the 1973 Grateful Dead Volume 1 (Bear’s Choice) album.
So far, all we know is that Nike is creating a set of furry Nike SB Dunk Lows in various colours. A fuzzy faux suede adorns the sneakers, with a jagged Swoosh on the side and a Bear Logo on the tongue. Rumours suggest that the shoe could drop in five colourways, though only one has been seen so far. Given the bold colours that adorn this sneaker, it’s certainly going to be a tough one to cop.
No concrete information or release date has yet been confirmed, but reports suggest that The Grateful Dead x Nike SB Dunk Low will drop later this year. Check out the images below and let us know if you plan on copping these.
