Since 1987, the Nike Air Max 1 has become a staple part of sneaker culture. Tinker Hatfield’s revolutionary design truly reshaped the industry, giving wearers the ability to see right into the heart of the shoe. It changed footwear forever. Now, 30 years and thousands of sneakers later, the Air Max 1 is an icon. Air Max 1 collaborations have brought about some of the rarest sneakers on the planet, with this upcoming Denham iteration being one of them.
Whilst details are still just emerging, leaked images of an upcoming Denham x Air Max 1 have surfaced online. Denham, the Amsterdam-based jean maker founded in 2008, has been given the chance to put its spin on the classic shoe. As you can imagine, this denim-inspired Air Max 1 is already making waves in the sneaker world.
Premium denim and suede adorns most of the upper, complete in a royal blue colour. However, Denham has gone one step further, using a traditional Japanese technique known as Boro stitching throughout. The two contrasting patterns work well together, with a crisp white leather Swoosh finishing the upper off. On the inside, large “Denham The Jean Maker” can be seen, working nicely against the white leather A red leather insole features gold tools of the trade such as scissors, bringing this Air Max full circle.
If you’re looking to get your hands on these, you’ll have to wait a little longer. As of now, no release date has yet been given. The sneaker is also rumoured to be very limited, with only 6,800 pairs said to have been made. Given the premium materials on this shoe, it’s also not going to be cheap.
