Nike’s surprise relationship with GORE-TEX has delivered some of the best-winterised sneakers that we’ve ever seen: one of those models, however, has taken off more than any other; the Air Force 1. Over the past two years, the Nike Air Force 1 GORE-TEX has delivered a number of slick-looking colourways, from militarised olives to sleek all black. Now, it looks as though a Nike Air Force 1 “Sail Gum” could be on the way this winter.
Arguably the least winter-appropriate colour scheme, the “Sail Gum” is one for drier days. A simple mesh and leather combination has been donned in sail, with the premium leather Swoosh adding a nice touch. On the heel, large “GORE-TEX” branding can be seen, though an updated tongue tag featuring co-branding has been used. Finishing this winter AF1 off is a clean sail midsole and gum outsole, completing this well-balanced sneaker.
At the minute, there’s no confirmed release date on these upcoming GORE-TEX Air Force 1s. All we do know that is that a retail price of €150 has been set, meaning these are a good winter investment.
