Nike is no stranger to dropping Chinese New Year sneakers. For the past 12 years, the Swoosh has dropped entire collections based on Chinese zodiac symbols. Whether it’s the Pig, Snake or Monkey, Nike has nailed its festive footwear. This year’s Year of the Rat drop was one of the most memorable on record, but Nike is doing its best to up the levels once more. After several rumours and leaks, it looks as though a Nike SB Dunk Low “Chinese New Year” is dropping in early 2021.
With the Year of the Ox almost upon us, it seems Nike is gearing itself up once more for a CNY sneaker. Given the success of the SB Dunk this year, it’s the perfect silhouette of choice. The upcoming SB Dunk is certainly eye-catching, donning a bold mixture of materials and textures. Shiny copper toes are polarised by faux ostrich panels and long hair suede, although the use of various prints throughout the Dunk is just as eye-catching.
Both shoes are constructed differently, giving this Nike SB Dunk a slight “What The” theme throughout. The mismatched look doesn’t look out of place, however, with this pair working together nicely. Traditional Chinese emblems can be seen on the heels and rear panels, in keeping with the celebration of the New Year.
As for now, there’s not much information on this upcoming Nike SB Dunk Low “Chinese New Year.” Given the timing of the release, and that CNY takes place on February 12th, you’ll have to wait until next year for these to drop. For now, take a closer look at the pair and let us know if you’ll cop these Dunks.
