It’s going to be a busy week at Supreme this week, with the streetwear giant revealing a collaboration with iconic NYC artist Clayton Patterson. As fellow New Yorkers, it made perfect sense for Supreme to team up with Patterson. The artist, photographer and videographer is well-known for documenting Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Now, the two New York staples are teaming up to release a capsule collection inspired by Patterson’s distinctive style.
Known for his activism work, Clayton Patterson has been a key figure in Manhattan for almost 40 years. In the mid-1980s, Patterson began stitching folkloric illustrations into baseball caps. These patterns quickly took off and became a must-have item in NYC at the time. Drawing on this story for the collaboration, Supreme has delved deep into the Patterson archive to create a collection that’s a perfect representation of the artist’s impact.
Using the same folk-inspired embroidery, Supreme has dressed a number of items in Patterson’s art. In total, 11 pieces will launch such as reversible MA-1 Jackets, Work Shirts, Jeans and 5-Panel Caps. Updated graphics feature “Supreme” amidst skull and crossbones to give this latest Supreme artist collaboration a real edge.
If you like the look of the Supreme x Clayton Patterson collaboration then there’s good news. The entire range will drop on April 8th. Check out the official lookbook below and let us know if you’ll cop any of this week’s Supreme.
