Creativity in collaborations is vital. Big brands know that a story can help to create a lasting legacy in the sneaker community. In 2012, Nike teamed up with Tom Sachs to create a collection inspired by space. Sachs, a contemporary artist who had held exhibitions surrounding space travel, created one of the most iconic shoes of the decade, the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard. Reissued in 2017 with improved materials, the shoe sold for thousands. Well, there could be another version dropping later this year.
Whilst information is still scarce, early reports suggest that the Tom Sachs x Nike Mars Yard 2.5 could release in 2020. Unlike the previous versions which featured beige suede and mesh as well as a red Swoosh, the 2.5 will use a different approach. According to sources, the Tom Sachs Mars Yard 2.5 will use a Particle Grey and Sport Red colour scheme. Although there are no leaked images just yet, the story is beginning to build up momentum in the sneaker world.
This is the good news that we all need at the moment. For now, we will have just have to wait and see if the rumour is in fact true. Keep it locked to KLEKT for more information on this story as it breaks.
