Late last year, Nike SB brought back the “Raygun” Dunks, much to the delight of sneakerheads around the world. Inspired by the fictitious “Roswell Raygun” basketball team, the updated silhouette featured much of the same detailing as the OG. With the Rayguns held very dearly by the late great Sandy Bodecker, the reissue is all the more poignant. Now, it looks like Nike could be extending the “Raygun” theme to the Air Force 1.
Whilst details are still emerging, various sources claim that Nike will be dropping a Raygun Air Force 1 next year. Unlike the recent SB Dunk retro, the Air Force 1 will use the same detailing as the original. For those who may have forgotten, the 2019 retro of the Raygun Dunks featured a tie-dye pattern inspired by a hoodie of Sandy Bodecker. However, thankfully, Nike will be bringing back the OG colour blocking for the AF1.
A black tumbled leather AF1 features orange and yellow panelling on the side and ankles. An orange heel tab is contrasted by white “Nike” writing on the heel, with a set of matching white laces for good measure. Of course, it is the Roswell Raygun emblem on the heel that is the real eye-catching detail on these Air Force 1s. Finishing the sneaker off is a black midsole with a white outsole, much like the original SB Dunk.
