There is no doubt that 2020 was one of the biggest years that the Nike Dunk has ever had. Since its initial release in 1985, the pair has remained a cultural icon for 36 years. After a huge surge in popularity last year, it seems that Nike is looking to continue the momentum in 2021. Thankfully, we’re going to get a first taste of what to expect from the Nike Dunk this year, thanks to a huge pack dropping this week.
Dropping three Nike Dunk Lows and two Nike Dunk Highs, there’s something for everyone. All four pairs are constructed in premium smooth leather, Nike hasn’t cut corners on this release. Interestingly, there will be more inclusive sizes for this release, something that the female sneaker community has been crying out for since the return of the Dunk.
The Lows are three colourways that any serious sneakerhead will recognise: “University Blue” and “University of Las Vegas (UNLV)”. These three colourways were among some of the first to release on the Nike Dunk way back in 1985 and mark the Swoosh’s continued efforts to bring back iconic colourways on the basketball model. Of course, the Highs are just good. The simple colours are tonal efforts, dubbed “Vast Grey” and “Football Grey”. Less really is more on these colourways, with the subtle colour combinations being ideal for the upcoming spring months.
Fortunately, there are going to be big numbers of these Nike Dunks. Multiple stockists are reported to have these upcoming Dunks. Most colourways will start in a EU34.5 (UK2.5) or EU35 (UK3) and go up to a EU43.5 (UK9.5). Thankfully, these are the same €100 and €110 price point for the Lows and Highs respectively.
