When Nike introduced traditional Japanese “Sashiko” stitching to its sneakers last year, footwear fans around the world got excited. From Dunks to Air Jordan 4s and almost every classic sneaker in between, Sashiko is becoming a bigger part of Nike’s arsenal. As 2021 gets underway, it doesn’t look as though Sashiko sneakers will be going anywhere. In fact, we now have a closer look at an upcoming “Sashiko” Nike Air Force 1.
Arguably the best Sashiko Nike sneaker we’ve seen so far, this upcoming Air Force 1 looks like a must cop. The woven upper utilises the Japanese stitching method in a well-balanced white and navy throughout. Each panel is stitched differently, giving this AF1 a unique look and feel. Subtle red detailing can be seen on the tongue tag, although the gold lace jewel on the toe is probably our favourite detail alongside the Kanji symbol on the heel. A white midsole is paired with a translucent outsole featuring traditional Japanese characters on the sole.
For now, there’s no exact release date for the “Sashiko” Nike Air Force 1. Multiple sources have claimed that this will be a women’s exclusive but that’s to be confirmed. All we know is that this may be one of our favourite Air Force 1s this year. Check out the leaked official images below and let us know if you’ll cop these AF1s.
