There are few sneakers with such a cult status in Japan like the Nike Air Max 95. When the sneaker first released, it quickly became a must-have for many early Japanese sneakerheads. Over the past 25 years, that cult-like status hasn’t gone from Japanese sneaker culture at all. Last year alone saw a number of Japanese exclusive Air Max 95s release with great success. Now, Nike is putting a little bit of Japan all over the Air Max 95.
Simply dubbed the Nike Air Max 95 “Japan”, this bold sneaker is one that you won’t forget in a hurry. Taking a collage of vintage advertising, the sneaker is very graphic-heavy on the TPU upper. Wrapping around the majority of this AM95, the throwback ads give the shoe a certain sense of character. The neon and orange tongue tag work nicely with a mini orange Swoosh on the heel, subtle details on this otherwise loud Air Max 95. A black leather toe and matching liner keep a nice balance, but it’s the white midsole that we like a lot. Featuring both neon and bright orange air units, this is a real winner.
As for now, there’s a tentative March 2021 release date and an estimated €180 retail price. It could tie in with the Air Max Day celebrations Nike has planned, but let’s just wait and see. Take a closer look at the official images below and let us know if you’ll cop.
