Whilst Paris Fashion Week may be completely different this year thanks to COVID-19, that hasn’t stopped brands from getting creative with their shows. Presentations from Louis Vuitton, Hermes and Dior have shown us that fashion won’t stop. Yesterday, it was COMME des GARÇONS chance to show us its FW21 campaign. Rei Kawakubo’s iconic label, as usual, surprised us with a Nike collaboration (or two). In fact, we now have our first glimpse at two pairs of the COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Foamposite One.
As always, CDG, and Kawakubo in particular, like to choose unlikely Nike silhouettes. The Foamposite is one of Nike’s unsung heroes and had something of a moment back in 2014. Now, COMME des GARÇONS has taken the high-performance basketball shoe and transformed it into something very different. Opting for the familiar monochromatic contrast, two CDG Foamposites will be on the way: one black pair and one white pair.
The COMME des GARÇONS x Nike Air Foamposite One looks very different from the OG model. A textured moulded-design wraps around the upper, replacing the traditional shell, and is finished in smooth leather. Swirls throughout the shoe make this look more like a Salvador Dali painting than a Foamposite. “COMME des GARÇONS HOMME PLUS” can be seen on the heel tab, with a Jewel Swoosh on the toe being the only visible Nike logo on this shoe.
With this being presented at the FW21 show, there’s a while to wait to cop the CDG Foamposites. However, we can guarantee these will be a big hit with Foamposite fans. Check out the first images below and let us know if you’ll cop either of these CDG x Nike sneakers.
