For those of us who remember early skate videos, the grainy footage was something of a trademark. Before the days of 4K video cameras, VHS was the way to go. One camera, in particular, was the weapon of choice for skate film directors: the Sony DCR-VX1000. At its peak, the camera was used for skate videos throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. Now, it looks as though a special Nike SB Dunk Low “VX1000” is in the works.
The slick black and grey colour combination on this Nike SB Dunk Low takes direct inspiration from the Sony DCR-VX1000. However, it’s the subtle details on this sneaker that really make it great. Text elements read “PEAK”, “REC LEVEL”, “WHT BAL” and “SHUTTER SPEED” on the black heel overlays. “CONTROL” has also been embossed on the Swoosh, as well as “PLAYER” being used on the quarter panel. Red and yellow eyelets represent the record buttons found on the camera, another subtle detail we love. Aqua blue heel tabs round off the upper whilst a white midsole and subtle grey sole bringing this Dunk to a close.
If you like the look of the Nike SB Dunk Low “VX1000” then there’s good news. According to sources, these will release in Asia and Europe on February 20th for just €100.
