For almost three decades, Michael Jordan and Jordan Brand have been extremely influential in the sporting world. From iconic moments on the court to community-focused initiatives, no one comes close to His Airness. MJs drive, passion and winning mentality has inspired everybody. Now, in its 25th season, Jordan Brand has revealed its largest-ever female roster; a landmark achievement for MJ and the team.
As part of its promotional group, WNBA athletes Aerial Powers, Satou Sabbaly, Dearica Hamby, Crystal Dangerfield, Te’a Cooper and Jordin Canada. It also unveiled it had signed Arella Guirantes and Chelsea Dungee to its roster. In total, the new signing holds seven WNBA championships between them and will join Jordan Brand icons Maya Moore, Kia Nurse and Asia Durr.
“These amazing athletes are defining a lot of things about Jordan Brand and leading a true conversation that’s impacting culture and our communities across the globe,” Michael Jordan said in a statement to Nike. Jordin Canada, Seattle Storm point guard, added “To have 11 Black women be a part of this brand allows the younger generation and younger women to see that they can be like us — they can have that opportunity. I didn’t see that growing up.”
