Last released in 2012 the OG ‘Military Blue’ Air Jordan 4s have gone down as one of the most popular colourways for Jordan Brand’s hottest model. The colourway finally returns this summer, but this time it’s under a new name, the ‘Industrial Blue’.
This release was first teased before the new year. Sneakerheads immediately ranked them alongside the Reimagined Breds as one of 2024’s most anticipated drops. It wasn’t until this year that we learnt that the name of this pair had changed to ‘Industrial Blue’. We’re still not sure why, but some people argue that the shade of blue used is ever so slightly different.
Regardless of the name change, this release is intended to be true to the original shoe. While the Reimagined Breds took inspiration from the shape of the Nike SB ‘Pine Greens’, the Industrial Blues will be closer to the AJ4’s OG cut.
In terms of colour and materials, everything is in its right place. You’ve got a smooth white leather upper, with grey nubuck mudguard on the toe. Bold blue accents appear on the lace crowns, as well as the mesh panels underneath white netting. The Jumpman on the classic ‘Flight’ tongue tag also comes in blue.
The Military Blue has previously been rereleased in 2006 and 2012. However, this the first Retro to include the OG Nike Air branding from 1989 instead of a Jumpman on the heel. As always, the white midsole features visible Air cushioning, with herringbone rubber traction underneath.
While the name may have changed, these blue roses look just as sweet as they ever have. This is looking like a must-cop if you’re a collector of OG colourways, or just a fan of Jordan 4s in general as we know a lot of you are. If you wanted a second reason to celebrate May the 4th you’re in luck cause that’s when they’re dropping.
