There is no denying the influence that Sean Wotherspoon has had on the sneaker community. Since winning the Vote Forward campaign by Nike in 2017, the designer has worked with a number of brands. After announcing that his Air Max 1/97 VF would be his first and only Nike sneaker, the community wanted more. Having already teased his collaboration with adidas, we now have a closer look at his an upcoming Superstar.
Nicknamed the “SUPEREARTH”, Wotherspoon has taken a different approach to the familiar corduroy. Instead, this sneaker has a heavy focus on sustainability and is the first-ever vegan adidas sneaker. Using the classic Superstar, Wotherspoon has added a number of colourful touches. Pops of light blue and pink on the eyelets are contrasted by varying shades of yellow, black and red embroidered adidas Trefoil logos on the side panelling.
A set of crisp white laces and a cream shelltoe help to break this sneaker up. However, the real take away from this shoe is the embroidered earth on the tongue. Whilst Wotherspoon admitted that “This is still an early sample so a lot will be different on the next pair I show you” it’s exciting nonetheless. With eco-friendliness at the heart of this shoe, this is good for your rotation and the planet.
