Air Max Day is right around the corner, along with the release of the Air Max 1 ‘Big Bubble’. To help us get ready for the event, we’ve put together a new guide on how to style the Air Max 1, following up our first Air Max 1 guide from 2021 with some fresh new fits from Team KLEKT.
One of Nike’s most iconic 80s sneakers, the Air Max 1’s classic running silhouette can be worn with anything, from jeans and a tee to more elaborate fits. There’s also plenty to choose from in terms of colours, from the bold sporty accents on the OGs to a variety of patterns and prints.
No matter your style, there’s an AM1 that’s right for you. But, if you’re looking for the right place to start, here’s some inspo, courtesy of Team KLEKT…
Nike Air Max 1 OG Anniversary Red – @m.ta.sneakers
Let’s start things off with a classic, the 2017 Anniversary OGs with the classic sport red accents. Working with a mostly black fit, we see @m.ta.sneakers, wearing straight, washed jeans. These then lead to the feet, where the contrast of the fresh white and grey uppers on the OG Air Max is on full display, complete with its solid red mudguards.
Nike x Concepts Air Max 1 SP Mellow – @joy.amber
The Concepts Air Max 1s were some of the most creative collabs of the last year. Here in this look from @joy.amber, the eclectic, colourful piece is simply styled with a bold purple top. The sneakers sit nicely under some baggy, frayed, washed jeans to match the mellow 60s vibe.
Nike Air Max 1 ‘Crepe Hemp’ – @pucineg
The Crepe Hemp AM1s feature a unique mix of woven hemp and crepe rubber, all wrapped up in a nice, earthy colourway. In this look, @pucineg styles these natural vibes with a more aggressive, technical fit, featuring camo print bottoms and a beige quilted jacket.
Nike Air Max 1 x Travis Scott Cactus Jack Saturn Gold – @izdomm
Travis Scott presented a truly conceptual offering with his Cactus Corp Air Max 1s, inspired by cyberpunk, dystopian sci-fi. Fittingly, @izdomm incorporates the Saturn Gold colourway into a solid, technical look, tied together with some eye-catching camo trousers, and finished off with a Burberry Box Logo tee.
Nike Air Max 1 WMNS ‘Tour Yellow’ – @mondarama
The masked man himself, @mondarama opts for some LA Lakers vibes in this look. Up top we see a purple and yellow varsity jacket, perfectly matching the retro athletic vibes on the Tour Yellow colourway on feet.
Nike x Patta Air Max 1 White – @danielj790219
The white Patta Air Max 1s have gone down as one of the most instantly wearable collabs in years. Here, @danielj790219 creates a solid fit, pairing the clean white and silver pair with this stark, boxy, washed black ensemble.
Nike Air Max 1 Anniversary ‘Magma Orange’ – @a.carolanne
Natural autumnal vibes. Here, @a.carolanne pairs the magma orange colourway with a more toned-down look. The vibrant accents are used as a warm complement for the washed-out denim and pine green hoodie. This peaceful, outdoorsy look is tied together with a natural, off-white bag.
Nike x Patta Air Max 1 Waves Black White – @irenecorridori
Sleek and stylish. The black and silver Pattas are effortlessly styled by @irenecorridori. The black leather upper matches the puffer jacket, while the silver mesh easily blends into the grey sweatpants.
Nike Air Max 1 PRM ‘Dirty Denim’ – @menace2sneakers
The PRM Dirty Denims are matched with a vibrant stone wash and royal blue fit, courtesy of @menace2sneakers. Things don’t stop there, with pink socks and swapped-out laces adding some extra zing.
Nike x Patta Air Max 1 Waves Monarch – @silrugge
The timelessness of the Air Max is easy to see, worn with a classic, stylish leather jacket by @silrugge. Moving down, the baggy khaki cargos match the burnt orange accents on this gorgeous Patta colourway.
