Now the LA label and Vans are back with a second colourway. The Vans x Satoshi Nakamoto Era 95 'Gems' in Navy keeps everything that made the first pair work and swaps the black base for deep blue.
The idea behind the shoe is that it changes as you wear it. The navy canvas upper is built to tear away over time and slowly reveal a classic checkerboard underneath. Exposed foam at the collar and frayed edges give it a deconstructed look from day one, while round multicolour gemstones around the ankle add a precise, almost jewellery-like contrast to the raw build.
The details keep going. The laces carry a repeating 'Satoshi' print and sandblasted beads, the sidewall gets a black and yellow hand-wiped finish with a distressed foxing stripe, and 'Satoshi Nakamoto' wraps around the midsole. Underfoot, a translucent crystal outsole shows the brand name through the rubber, a detail you only really notice when the shoe moves.
Satoshi Nakamoto is a Los Angeles brand built around a rebellious, hacker-style mindset, drawing on vintage moto Americana and handmade, altered pieces. The partnership with OTW, Vans' premium line, has turned the Era into its most wanted canvas so far.
