Today, we’re talking to one of the most elusive and hidden names in the Italian sneaker and streetwear scene @mondarama_. As a passionate fashion and footwear fan, Mond has been interested in the industry for as long as he can remember. Now, he garners a committed and growing audience.
Today, we’re going to be finding out a little bit more about the man behind the mask. We’ll be learning more about just how he got into clothes, as well as what inspired him to remain anonymous on his account. Hi, it’s great to have you here! Can you please introduce yourself?
It’s an honour, thanks for having me. Behind Monodrama is a 27-year-old Italian boy from Ancona, Italy. In my everyday life, I work as a visual merchandiser and buyer in a shop. I collaborate as a consultant for first-line brands and I also have small personal projects too. In addition to the clothes, my two other great passions are music and sport.
How did your passion for sneakers7fashion start?
Since I was a kid, I have always been drawn to the world of fashion. My parents both worked in fashion so I think they must have naturally introduced me to it from a young age. I think if I had to attribute my love of sneakers and “hype”, it would have been after the release of the first adidas Yeezy Boost 350. A friend of mine lived in Australia and told me about guys who were camping out overnight for a pair of shoes! It was the first time I heard such a thing and I was really surprised and intrigued – here is probably where it all began.
What was your last sneaker purchase?
My obsession with sneakers never stops. If I can, I try and get them for retail but, of course, it’s not that easy haha. The last shoe I bought was the Air Jordan 1 Retro High OG “Light Fusion Red”. It’s a very vibrant colourway but at the same time easily combinable meaning they’re perfect for the summer.
Can you tell us more about why you choose to remain anonymous by wearing a mask on your account?
As many often ask me, the idea of wearing a mask was born out of a desire to stay anonymous. I am very passionate about clothes and sneakers, so I just wanted to give my input or advice in the clearest way possible. My main objective was to remain natural throughout, so being recognised was definitely not what I wanted. The only things that matter are sneakers, clothes and style.
