Heya ppl, Thx KLEKT for the opportunity to introduce myself! I’m Dewi (a.k.a. @404eindbaas), a 37 year young Dutchie from Hengelo in the Netherlands. This, so-called, sneaker “madness” started when I was a lil’ youngster. Ready to hit the playground in some baggy outfits, with a big love for Hip-Hop and skate culture.
Through the years many brands (Vans, Asics, adidas, New Balance etc.) were part of my sneaker journey. At the age of 20, I got my first Air Max 1s (the OG Red HOA ’05). It was love at first sight but my collecting had to take a backseat because of my studies. Once I graduated… sh*t hit the fan. During several years my collection grew, still mainly focusing on the Air Max 1. So, let me lead you through my top 5 picks.
Nike Air Max 1 Patta 5th Anniversary Purple Denim (2009)
Recently I got so lucky, after hunting for years I finally got my hands on this pair for a reasonable price, and in such good condition. Really love Nike teaming up with Patta and the heat they bring us over and over. I mean, take a look at the sneaker, there’s no caption needed, right? Less is more and that’s what this sneaker is all about for me, I’m so into the purple denim and mini swoosh. This combined with the two tones of white and grey in suede and mesh is just perfection to me.
Nike Air Max 1 Atmos Elephant (2017)
A collab between Nike and Atmos? It simply means fire in the hole! For many Air Max 1 collectors this is the GOAT and I totally get why. The look of the crispy elephant print on the mudguard, white leather toebox and these beautiful jade colour accents used on the Swoosh and branding. Do I really need to say more?
Nike Air Max 1 Patta Corduroy 5th Anniversary (2009)
Yet another one from the Nike x Patta 5th Anniversary collaboration. Like the purple denim, these recently got added to my collection after a long hunt. Really love the materials on this beautiful pair: Corduroy, denim, and suede. Quite a mix huh? I haven’t even mentioned the outstanding colour combination, including the finishing touch of sport red accents. But let’s face it, each and every pair from this anniversary pack is a true banger!
Nike Air Max 1 PRM WMNS Wabi-Sabi (2022)
Perfectly imperfect! This pair really gives me those zen vibes. For me, this was the Shoe of the Year for 2022, not only because of the beautiful materials, earth tones and details like the cracked lines on the midsole and “XXXV” stitching but also because of the Japanese Wabi Sabi philosophy that celebrates the beauty of imperfections.
Nike x Sean Wotherspoon Air Max 97/1
Two can play that game! When two iconic Air Max models become one… you’ll get one of the best hybrids ever made IMO. I’m a real sucker for this colour bomb! The multicoloured corduroy upper gives me an instant funky feeling and puts a bright smile on my face, a real summer banger!
