Hi KLEKT! I’m JJ aka @shitsmint on Instagram.
I’m located just outside of New York City and I’ve always had a love for sneakers starting at an early age. I also enjoy creating content with my collection and sharing it with others who are passionate about kicks. Here is a look at my current Top 5 from my collection in no particular order:
Nike x Off-White Air Presto (2017)
IMO, this is Virgil’s best work. Don’t get me wrong, the Off White Jordan 1 Chicago is a masterpiece, but what he did with the Presto by totally reconstructing it is just amazing to me. I’ve been wearing Prestos since the early 2000s when they first dropped so this silhouette is near and dear to my heart. On top of that, this is one of the most comfortable sneakers I’ve ever had it even rivals the Ultraboost. These are a piece of ART.
Air Max 1 Nike By You (2019)
This is a special sneaker for me, nothing hype here, just a creation I threw together on Nike not knowing what to expect in terms of quality, fit, shape and end result. I grew up an Air Max kid, and there’s no better Air Max than an Air Max 1. I love how these came out and how unique they are, an easy pair for me to wear almost anywhere and everywhere.
Air Jordan 1 Retro High Chicago (2015)
This pair speaks for itself. A timeless, iconic pair that simply represents greatness. This is my favourite colourway and colour blocking on a Jordan 1.
Adidas x Parley Ultraboost Uncaged For The Oceans Turquoise Futurecraft (2019)
The Ultraboost 1.0 was the sneaker that re-sparked my interest back into sneakers and escalated my collecting. The combination of a prime knit upper and boost midsole took comfort to the next level. This pair in particular is a sample from adidas’ partnership with Parley, which takes reclaimed marine plastic waste and turns it into wearable fabrics such as the materials that construct this sneaker. An amazing partnership, cause, and result of a sneaker. I don’t care how “dead” Ultraboost ever is, they will always have a space in my regular rotation.
Air Jordan 1 Low OG X Fragment Design x Travis Scott (2021)
I have to admit, this is a pair I didn’t see coming. Prior to these, I was strictly a Jordan 1 High person, I had no interest in lows. Call it hype, or just perfect execution, but these were the pair that put Jordan 1 Lows on the map for me. Even the OG Travis x Jordan 1 Mocha Lows didn’t pique my interest when they dropped. However, the colour blocking and Fragment blue mixed with the oversized cream backwards swoosh is an absolutely stunning combo. I’m not a huge fan of Travis or his music but I do applaud what he did with this collab. Since picking these up, I’ve fallen in love with the Jordan 1 Low and have picked up a handful of them.
