All the way back in February, J Balvin took to the Super Bowl LIV stage at halftime donning a never before seen Air Jordan 1. The multicoloured sneaker was soon found out to be J Balvin’s own collaboration, with the Colombian reggaeton artist revealing the news via Instagram. Since that initial news break, however, there’s been seldom seen of this bright AJ1. Thankfully, that’s all changing. We now have official images and a potential release date for the J Balvin x Air Jordan 1.
As you can probably see, this upcoming Jordan 1 is certainly bold. Dubbed “Colores Y Vibras”, which translates to colours and vibes, is a perfect reflection of J Balvin’s personality. The sneaker features a loud combination of primary colours, each blending into the last through a gradient effect. Subtle details come in the form of cut out panels; an eccentric addition that we’re all for. Of course, Balvin hasn’t missed this opportunity to make the AJ1 his own.
The artist’s recognisable smiley face logo adorns velcro patches which can be placed on the shoe. Other patches include a lightning bolt and, rather fittingly, a basketball. Smiley faces also replace the traditional “Nike Air” on the tongue tag too as J Balvin looks to put his stamp on this classic sneaker. Finishing things off is an exposed foam tongue a soft pink sole unit; bringing this historical Air Jordan 1 collaboration to a close.
As this is the first-ever sneaker to be collaborated on with a South American, it’s going to be a memorable one. Jordan Brand has confirmed the upcoming J Balvin will drop on December 8th at select retailers. Check out the official images below and let us know if you’ll cop.
