Sustainability and reducing carbon footprint is one of the biggest challenges that the fashion industry currently faces. Whether it’s adidas working with Parley on products made from recycled ocean plastic or Nike using recycled materials, sneaker brands are slowly changing the way they manufacture. Thankfully, it looks like it isn’t stopping any time soon. Jordan Brand has just unveiled its first collection made using Nike Crater Foam.
After the success of the Nike Space Hippie collection last month, it looks as though Crater Foam is here to stay. In a statement released by Nike, Jordan Brand explained that it was working with Nike on its “Move to Zero” campaign. Using Nike Crater Foam, Jordan will drop three items made up of the recycled Nike production contents: a Jordan Crater, a Jordan Crater Slide and an Air Jordan 1.
The entire collection will use the speckled Nike Grind rubber throughout the midsole, whilst the upper will feature canvas-like material. Interestingly, the Jordan Brand Crater Foam collection will be the most recycled product to date. The reinforcements and webbing will be made from 80-100% recycled polyester and 100% recycled nylon. To say that this collection will be a big step forward for Jordan Brand is an understatement.
Arriving in fall, the Jordan Crater will be one of the year’s most important drops. Check out the official images below and let us know if you’ll cop this recycled sneaker.
