Whilst Chinese New Year may not be for another month, that hasn’t stopped brands from showing off their plans for the festivities already. Known for its commemorative CNY sneakers, Nike and Jordan Brand are looking to up things once more. Over the past few weeks, we’ve seen glimpses of an Air Jordan 5 Low “CNY” that features some pretty slick detailing. Well, it now looks as though there is more than meets the eye on this AJ5.
Looking fairly simple at first, the Air Jordan 5 Low “CNY” uses a white base and is accented with red on the collar, eyestays and shark tooth on the midsole. However, on closer inspection, there is, in fact, hidden panelling underneath. Barely visible through the white of the upper, a distinct and vibrant CNY pattern can be seen underneath.
The hidden detailing is rumoured to represent commemorative Chinese New Year symbols, a nice addition from Jordan Brand. Designed to tearaway, this gives wearers the option to customise this AJ5 to their own taste. Of course, that isn’t the only thing on this Air Jordan that’s worth noting. On the heel, a special emblem features Chinese characters as well as the Jumpman taking pride of place.
As for now, we’ve got a little longer to wait for the Air Jordan 5 Low “CNY”. According to sources, the pair is scheduled to release on January 23rd for around €215. Check out the first images below and let us know if you’ll cop these Jordan 5s.
