It’s safe to say that sacai and Nike’s Vaporwaffle collaboration has been a smash hit. Since first walking down the runway at the sacai FW20 show, it’s been an exciting rollercoaster ride for both Chitose Abe and the sneaker community. Dropping in four colourways last year, it seems that things aren’t done just yet for sacai x Nike. In fact, it looks like even more pairs of the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle are on the way, one of which is a simple “Black/Gum”.
Whilst, of course, there is no official confirmation just yet, the colourway looks pretty legit. Unlike the previous sacai x Nike Vaporwaffles, the “Black/Gum” uses a nylon base similar to the early 2020 LDWaffles. Black leather can be spotted on the cage as well as the heel, whilst black suede can be seen on the toe and lace eyelets. One of the slick updates we’re a big fan of is the black leather Swoosh just touching the mudguard; something we’ve not seen from a sacai x Nike before. The familiar double-stacked detailing comes as standard, doubling the laces, tongues, but it’s the gum sole that’s the standout feature.
As for now, there’s no concrete information on the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle “Black/Gum”. However, with the FW21 Paris Fashion Week happening as we speak, hopefully, we’ll see more. Check out the first images below and let us know if you’ll cop these sacai x Nike sneakers.
