Over the past two years, sacai and Nike have created arguably some of the most sought sneakers in recent history. Although the two have a collaborative relationship that dates back to 2015, 2018 was the year that sacai x Nike really thrived. Having shown the sacai x Nike LDWaffle at Paris Fashion Week, the concept of merging two sneakers into one has remained a constant in the collaboration. Thankfully, sacai x Nike has continued this design idea with the upcoming Vaporwaffle.
This time, Chitose Abe’s sacai label has merged vintage technology with a futuristic design. The result is a sneaker that looks more like something from 2030 than in 2020. Using a similar colour to the classic Nike Cortez, the sacai x Nike Vaporwaffle is a perfect combination of past meets future. Cream mesh, suede and leather is contrasted by a white midsole. A set of red and black Swooshes are also accented by double laces and soles.
Whilst no official confirmation has come through, you can expect these to release later this year. Early reports suggest that the sneaker will retail at €180 too, though that remains to be seen. Check out the leaked images below and let us know if you’ll cop these sacai x Nike sneakers.
