Since launching in 1985, the Nike Dunk has remained one of the most important sneakers in history. Launched as one of Nike’s most innovative basketball designs, the shoe has remained an important part of sneaker culture. 35 years later and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. Over the past two years, the Dunk has come back with an enormous bang, forcing Nike to bring back some classic colourways. Well, after a long hiatus, the “Michigan” Dunk Highs will return in OG form this year.
Referenced late last year on Virgil Abloh’s Off-White™ x Nike Dunk, the Michigan is a key colourway in the history of the Dunk. Launched as part of Nike’s “Be True To Your School” campaign, the silhouette uses the instantly recognisable colour blocking on the University of Michigan. In keeping with the feel of the shoe, Nike is bringing the sneaker back in all of its original glory during the Fall 20 season.
A simple combination of maize and navy blue leather overlays adorn this Nike Dunk High. The original shape is also being used, making this as close to the 1985 OG as possible. The yellow tongue is contrasted by navy laces, complete with a navy “Nike” logo on the tongue. Finishing the shoe off is a crisp white midsole and navy blue outsole, bringing this classic sneaker to a close.
If you’re looking to cop these Dunks, you have a little longer to wait. The shoe will return on September 26th for €120. Check out the 2016 version below and let us know if you’ll be copping these Nike Dunk Highs.
