What started out as a range of Japanese exclusives almost 20 years ago has gone on to become one of the most sought after sneaker ranges for serious collectors. Yes, we’re talking about Nike CO.JP. Originally released back in 2001, CO.JP Nikes would gain a cult-like following in the sneaker community. Even big names like Ronnie Fieg know all too well how tough it was to cop certain pairs. Thankfully, Nike has been bringing a number of CO.JP sneakers back this year, with the Air Force 1 “Wheat” as the next in line.
Although you may be thinking this Nike Air Force 1 looks extremely similar to the “Flax” colourway, there are a few noticeable differences. For starters, this is the OG. Released over 19 years ago, the Nike Air Force 1 CO.JP “Wheat” replicated a Timberland boot colour perfectly. The premium tan nubuck that adorns this entire sneaker is contrasted with a brown sock liner, replicating the boot that defines winters around the world.
Of course, there are a few more details that really make the Air Force 1 CO.JP “Wheat” so good. A semi-translucent midsole is contrasted with a brown outsole, making for a perfectly toned AF1. Elsewhere, matching tan laces help blend into the shoe; although a tonal tongue tag adds a divisive touch that we’re all for. You can probably understand why the Air Force 1 CO.JP “Wheat” was such a big hit in cities such as New York.
At the minute, a tentative release date of October 8th and retail price of €140 has been set. However, there’s been no official confirmation on either of these details from Nike. If you like the look of these CO.JP sneakers, then sit tight. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop these AF1s.
