Nike is no stranger to releasing cleverly themed sneaker packs. Whether it’s football or basketball-themed shoes, the Swoosh knows how to do it best. Teams such as Arsenal or the England Rugby squad have been treated to custom sneakers. With that in mind, it looks as though Nike is continuing to roll the themed sneaker packs out. This time, it looks as though the world of baseball is getting a sneaker pack.
Inspired by the MLB, Nike has cooked up two Air Max 90s perfect for the plate or the streets. Drawing on the heavily coloured blocked logos of all MLB logos and strips, the latest Air Max 90 offerings are bold, to say the least.
Firstly we have an orange, sail and black colourway of the Air Max 90. Whether this sneaker takes inspiration from the Baltimore Ravens is up for debate, but the eye-catching colours certainly help make the connection. Sail leather is contrasted by black suede on the mudguard and around the ankle. The orange laces, eyelets and Air Unit, as well as a Jewel Swoosh, bring this shoe together. The alternating “Home” and “Away” tongue tags give this shoe pack its name.
Secondly, a patriotic red, sail and blue Air Max 90 make up the second half of this sneaker pack. A white leather upper features a navy suede overlay, with navy mesh around the ankle and tongue for good measure. Red laces, eyelets, Jewel Swooshes and Air Units help to bring this USA heavy sneaker to a close. Also paired with the alternating “Home” and “Away” tongue tags, these Air Max 90s are definitely one to look out for.
