The Nike Air Force 1 plays an important part of New York City’s sneaker culture. Nicknamed the “Uptowns” by New Yorkers, the iconic design has remained at the heart of sneakers for many in the Big Apple. Street basketball plays just as important a role, something that many know all too well. Now, Nike is launching a “NY vs NY” Air Force 1 that seamlessly blends both important worlds together.
Featuring a crisp white leather base, the “NY vs NY” Air Force 1 utilises a black Swoosh, “AIR” text and outsole. A custom lace dubrae with “NY vs NY” can also be spotted seen too, giving a subtle nod the sneakers name. The same branding can also be seen on the heel too. However, it is the removable tongue tag that is the real star of the shoe on this Air Force 1.
Replacing the traditional “Nike Air” on the tongue are Six league inspired velcro tags. The inspiration behind the design comes from the various basketball summer leagues that can be found in New York. This unique feature gives sneakerheads the chance to customise their Air Force 1s how they want.
Set to launch in the coming weeks for €110, the “NY vs NY” Air Force 1 is a must cop. Check out the images below and let us know if you’re feeling these AF1s.
