When the Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 MoMA released back in 2018, it was one of Virgil Abloh’s most limited Nike creations. Launching exclusively at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the MoMA AF1s were quick to become one of the year’s best sneakers. Since that initial and scarce drop, sneakerheads around the world have made it one of their grails to cop. However, rumours are now beginning to form that the MoMA AF1 could be dropping again, sparked by Abloh himself.
On Saturday, Virgil Abloh shared a picture of the coveted Off-White™ x Nike Air Force 1 MoMA with the caption “Savage mode.” Abloh’s slick black leather Air Force 1 dons a silver Swoosh and the usual detailing found on Off-White™ x Nike collabs. Large white text can be seen on the medial side, as well as an orange tag, clear zip-tie and “AIR” on the midsole. The official image of the Air Force 1 has got a number of sneakerheads wondering if we could be seeing the return of the rare AF1.
Although the possibility is slim, to say the least, that hasn’t deterred the footwear community from dreaming of a comeback. Whilst we have not seen an Off-White™ x Nike restock so far, that’s not to say that it won’t happen in the future. As for now, it’s probably a case of keeping your fingers crossed. Check out the official images and let us know if you’d cop this retro.
