In the long history of sneakers, fewer models are as important as the ASICS Gel-Lyte III. Designed by Shigeyuki Mitsui and released in 1990, the Gel-Lyte III was a true revolution. Now, three decades later, the Gel-Lyte III is one of the most coveted silhouettes in sneakers. With the shoe turning 30 this year, ASICS has been bringing back some of the original colourways. Thankfully for us, the “Emerald” Gel-Lyte III is making a return.
Just like the “Citrus”, the “Emerald” was one of the OG colourways of the ASICS Gel-Lyte III. The retro silhouette features the classic white mesh and is contrasted by teal accents on the mudguard and toe. A lilac sock liner is paired with matching laces and works with teal eyelets to create this 1990s looking colourway. Subtle “Gel-Lyte III” branding can be seen on the heel, with further “ASICS” branding on the midsole.
Whilst this OG colourway may not be for everyone, it is no doubt an important part of ASICS history. If you’re looking to cop the “Emerald” ASICS Gel-Lyte III, you won’t have to wait long. The sneaker will be available soon for €110. Check out the images below and let us know if you’ll cop these Gel-Lyte IIIs.
