It’s hard to argue Pharrell William’s status in the fashion industry. The 46-year-old musician has been voted as one of the world’s best-dressed men multiple times; even sparking his own diffusion line with French fashion house Chanel last year. It is not just fashion that Pharrell has an influence in, however. The “Happy” singer has always been held in high regard in the sneaker community, with his adidas collaborations making a mark in the industry.
After dropping 50 different colours of the adidas Superstar back in 2014, Pharrell and adidas are working together on the silhouette again. The adidas Superstar, which turns 50 this year, is being reimagined by a number of creatives. Pharrell was first spotted donning his upcoming adidas release last week in adidas’ recent Change Is a Team Sport campaign. Now, we have a first look at the latest Pharrell x adidas shoe thanks to the man himself.
Sporting a Primeknit upper, the sneaker is a futuristic update on the classic adidas shoe. Colour blocking appears to have been used on both the medial and lateral sides; with a contrasting tongue and heel tab adding more layers to this silhouette. The familiar shell toe makes an appearance, with rope laces replacing the traditional flat set. Of course, this is not the first glimpse that we have seen of the upcoming shoe. Ahead of Super Bowl LIV yesterday, Pharrell took to Instagram to reveal another version of the upcoming release.
With the Superstar turning 50 this year, and with rumoured collaborations happening with Prada, Run DMC and Jonah Hill, you can expect these to drop sooner rather than later. Will you be copping this latest Pharrell Williams x adidas sneaker?
