New Balance has stepped up this year. The Boston-born athletic brand is undergoing a dramatic change in popularity. Bringing back classic models has ushered in a new wave of fans, as well as making older ones happy too. Collaborations with the likes of Aimé Leon Dore, Kith and STAUD have certainly helped. Now, it looks like New Balance is recruiting Canadian label JJJJound to put its spin on the 992.
JJJJound, the Montréal-based minimalistic brand, teased fans over the weekend with a detailed look at its upcoming New Balance collaboration. Taking the iconic dad silhouette, JJJJound has opted for an earthy approach on the sneaker. Contrasting shades of khaki, cream, grey and black all work together to create a slick-looking shoe. Premium suede overlays have been paired with mesh to give this 992 an added edge.
Although there is only one image thus far, this JJJJound x New Balance 992 has certainly got the community talking. No official release date or images have yet been confirmed, but it’s likely the shoe will release in summer. As for now, you’ll just have to sit tight and wait for more info.
