For many, Jun Takashi’s UNDERCOVER label epitomizes Japanese streetwear. Since its inception in 1993, UNDERCOVER has become one of the most important brands in the world; working with the likes of Off-White™, Valentino and Supreme in the process. UNDERCOVER has also become a staple in the sneaker world thanks to its collaborative efforts with sportswear giant Nike. The two are now back once again debuting the Nike React Presto.
The latest in the iconic Presto line, the React Presto combines the comfort of the original Presto but advances it with React foam cushioning. For Presto fans, it’s a win-win. Sneakerheads will, of course, remember that this is not the first UNDERCOVER x Nike React collab. The two worked together to reimagine the React Boot in November last year. UNDERCOVER has taken cues from this previous collab and placed them on the lower top React Presto.
Using UNDERCOVER’s favoured monochromatic palette, the Japanese streetwear behemoth has transformed the React Presto altogether. The design does not match the simplicity of the colour palette, however. A combination of leather and mesh gives this sneaker its premium feel, with speckled detailing across the toe box, mudguard and lace cage and heel. Three unique colourways of this sneaker will release; black, white and blue, giving fans a variety of choice.
The real eye-catching part of this shoe, however, is the midsole. As you can see, UNDERCOVER has replicated the same midsole and sole section as its previous Nike React Boot collaboration. The chunky midsole is only added to with the equally as chunky sole, making for a sneaker that is perfect for the runway or every day.
