Although Nike and sacai have a relationship that dates back to 2015, it wasn’t until 2018 when people got really excited about the partnership. The introduction of the sacai x Nike LDWaffle was truly one of the most memorable moments in the sneaker calendar. As time has gone on, sneakerheads have wanted to see more of what sacai has in store with Nike. Continuing the same double-stacked sneaker look, the upcoming VaporWaffle shows the aesthetic isn’t going anywhere soon.
After debuting back in January at the sacai Paris Fashion Week show, sneakerheads were quick to get excited about the unusual VaporWaffle silhouette. The combination of the Nike Pegasus and Nike VaporFly shows just how unique Chitose Abe’ sacai designs are. Much the same as the LDWaffle, the VaporWaffle merges two midsoles, laces, Swooshes, tongues and uppers together in one.
The “Pure Platinum” iteration of the sneaker features a black and silver mesh upper. Contrast detailing on the heel and a thick set of Swooshes make this a much easier style to wear than the LDWaffle. Black and silver laces come together, paired with two neutral all-black tongues. A cream midsole breaks up all the neutral colouring, adding a vintage pop to this edgy model.
