Whilst Chinese New Year is not until next month, that hasn’t stopped brands from getting into the spirit now. As the Year of the Ox looks to get underway, we’ve seen a number of CNY inspired sneakers. From Air Jordan 5 Lows to adidas Ultra Boosts, there’s a lot of festive footwear planned over the coming weeks. Thankfully, New Balance has got some big plans too, giving us the first glimpse of its upcoming M920 “Year of the Ox”.
Although the New Balance 2002R “Year of the Ox” may be more subtle, we like the bold approach of the M920. A combination of bight red suede and mesh is contrasted by regal gold detailing and sleek black accents. Sitting a top a comfortable ENCAP midsole, New Balance has nailed the style and comfort of this silhouette. Symbolising luck and good fortune, the red base is a nod to Chinese culture, though the “CNY” on the insole is a hidden detail that we’re a big fan of.
As for now, there’s no concrete release information on the New Balance M920 “Year of the Ox”. However, multiple sources claim that the pair will drop later this month for around €230. With this being one of the more simple CNY sneakers, this is gonna be a big hit. Check out the official images below and let us know if you’ll cop these New Balance sneakers.
