When rumours began circulating that ALYX would be collaborating with Nike on an Air Force 1 the sneaker world was listening. ALYX has seen a meteoric rise over the past ten years, working with the likes of Moncler and Dior. With Paris Fashion Week well underway, Matthew Williams took to Instagram to give us a first official look at ALYX x Nike collaboration.
Williams, the founder and Creative Director of ALYX, has given us a closer look at the collaboration. Taking Bruce Kilgore’s iconic Air Force 1 High design, Williams has put ALYX’s signature touches on the silhouette in four simple colourways; Black, White, Black/White and White/Black.
The ALYX x Air Force 1 is comprised of a premium tumbled leather throughout, with wax laces adding to the luxury shoe. ALYX’s “1017 ALYX 9SM” branding has been stamped across the heel of the shoe, a subtle detail that only adds to the allure. The standout piece of this collaboration, however, is the strap across the laces.
In keeping with ALYX’s traditional minimalistic yet functional aesthetic, the brand’s Cobra buckle replaces the traditional velcro strap. This signature buckle finishes off a well-balanced sneaker; with co-branded logos found across the front of the shoe. Don’t get too excited about copping these, however, as there’s a catch.
As it stands, the ALYX x Nike Air Force 1 will be released today in Paris in limited numbers. Although there are no exact details on a wider release yet, hopefully, we see one later this year.
