The New Balance 992 is making a glorious return after a 10-year hiatus. Fans of the chunky Dad silhouette have rejoiced, with hardcore NB fans celebrating the shoes return. After the initial debut, made by Kith, the 992 is returning in its original form next month. However, New Balance is also giving collaborators the chance to work on the returning shoe. One of those collaborators is Chicago-based designer Joe Freshgoods.
After kickstarting his career with just $80 in his pocket, Joe Freshgoods has gone on to work with some of the largest brands on the planet. His work with the likes of Hennesy, McDonald’s and Nike have brought him to the attention of New Balance; with the Joe Freshgoods x New Balance 992 being the first shoe they are working on.
The shoe, which Joe Freshgoods has described as the “anatomy of a heart”, is shaping up to be a future classic. A combination of fabric and colours already adds to the allure of this sneaker. Plush suede and mesh give this shoe its premium feel. As you get a closer look at the details, you can see how much effort has gone into the composition of this sneaker.
Vibrant colours help to create the balance; with a tonal palette comprised of various red shades offset through the use of a monochromatic midsole. Accented “N” logos have reflective detailing, with the same detailing applied to the logo on the heel. It looks as though clothing will also release alongside this drop, making for the perfect combination.
According to Joe Freshgoods himself, the shoe will release across All-Star Weekend. Stay tuned to the KLEKT Blog where we’ll update you with more details about this release.
