Once in a while, Nike and Jordan Brand likes to take a playful approach to its sneakers. As of late, we’ve seen iconic Jordan and Air Max colourways applied to Nike Dunks; in the process, it has seamlessly merged two shoes together to create something entirely new. Now, as we fast approach the glitz and glamour of Super Bowl and All-Star Weekend, Jordan Brand is stepping things up once again.
The latest offering from Jordan Brand sees the Air Jordan 1 Mid cast back into the 1970s. If you’ve been looking for a pair of shoes to hit the dance floor with, look no further. Taking inspiration from the era of disco and iconic clubs like Studio 54, it’s safe to say that these Jordan 1s will light up the room. In case you’re wondering, yes, these shoes are inspired by a disco ball and we’re perfectly ok with it.
This Air Jordan 1 Mid is arguably one of, if not the most shiny Jordan 1 Mid of all time. Replacing the traditional matte leather is a shiny metallic upper with a disco ball’s geometric pattern throughout. The shiny silver Swoosh and printed silver Wings logo also add to the Saturday Night Fever vibe on this shoe. Keeping things simple, a black collar and silver tongue help to balance out the shoe.
A crisp white midsole with a black outsole help to bring this sneaker together, allowing the silver surfer upper to shine. The nightclub detailing does not finish there, however, with the insole of the shoe adding to the late-night Jordan 1. A red velvet insole features gold metallic graphics; a knowing nod to the velvet ropes that so often guard the VIP section.
This is definitely one of the most playful sneakers that Jordan Brand has put out in a while. If you’re looking to turn heads then these are for you.
