Sneakerheads around the world are celebrating this year. One of the most iconic silhouettes, the Nike Air Max 90, is turning 30. Since its introduction in 1990, the Air Max 90 has gone on to be one of the most important shoes in sneaker culture. Originally debuted as the Air Max III, the shoe has cemented itself as one of Nike’s leading sneakers. In order to give the shoe the party it deserves, the Swoosh is dropping the shoe in a number of new colourways, with this “Lemon” iteration being one of them.
Nike is keeping the original Air Max 90 shape for this release, just as it has throughout 2020 so far. Using the classic combination of mesh, leather and suede, this AM90 is already set to be a big one. A well-balanced yellow and palette make these sneakers perfect for the upcoming summer months; with a pebbled texture across the mudguard adding another element to this shoe.
A simple white Swoosh is used across the yellow medial and lateral panels, creating a divide amongst all of the bright yellow. The use of two different shades of yellow on the eyestays helps to keep things fresh. A white sock liner, complete with yellow insoles, adds to the shoes allure.
The use of a larger mudguard unit and sole adds to the retro vibe on this 90. Thankfully, Nike has kept things simple when it comes to the midsole. A white midsole has a large yellow Air Unit to break the monochrome; however, it does not feel too much and helps to separate the two sections nicely.
As with most Air Max 90s in 2020, these are already causing quite a stir in the sneaker community. Although there is no official release date on these upcoming 90s, you can expect them to release sooner rather than later.
